ACALAN meeting with CERDOTOLA and CICIBA achieved its set goals – Dr. Lang Fafa

ACALAN meeting with the Centre for Research and Documentation on African Traditions and Languages (CERDOTOLA) and the International Centre for Bantu Civilization (CICIBA) was a huge success. This is according to the Executive Secretary of ACALAN, Dr. Lang Fafa Dampha who noted that the meeting achieved its set objectives.

The meeting which was held in Yaounde recently was aimed at fostering the partnership between ACALAN and CERDOTOLA and CICIBA for the purpose of actualizing the linguistic atlas project for Africa.

Dr. Dampha said, “The just concluded workshop is on the linguistic atlas of Africa, we have come here to strengthen partnership that have existed among ACALAN, CERTODOLA and CICIBA in view of strengthening synergy and co-operation in the domain of developing the linguistic atlas for Africa which is one of ACALAN’s major projects this workshop have now been concluded and it was a success a lot of things have been done and the objectives of the workshop achieved.

“The next workshop holding in Kigali is targeted towards strengthening partnership with the media to help us achieve our common goal of integrating and developing the African continent.”

ACALAN will be looking to seize the opportunity to encourage the media to buy into ACALAN’s mandate of promoting the use of African languages especially as it relates to the media, so as to incorporate African terminologies in their day to day reportage.

ACALAN is a specialized institution of the African Union mandated to develop and promote African languages so as to use them in all domain of the society in Africa. We try to empower African Languages in view of using them as languages of instruction and official languages in the media, and other works of life.
