ACALAN to stream meeting on PANMAPAL and collaboration on Language Atlas Live

As part of ongoing efforts to promote and empower greater use of African languages, African Academy of Languages (ACALAN) TV is set to Streamed Live meeting on the review of Pan -African Master’s and PhD program in African Languages and Applied Linguistics (PANMAPAL) and also strengthen collaboration on developing Linguistic atlas of Africa.

The event which is scheduled to take place from December 10 to 11 at Yaounde, Cameroon can be followed live at www.acanlan.tv.

The meeting will review the PANMAPAL curriculum for possible adjustment with the aim of producing competent professionals who can help drive the facilitation and establishment of mother tongue based bilingual and multilingual education system in Africa.

Also, on the agenda for the meeting is the collaboration with the International Centre for Research and Documentation on African Tradition and Languages (CERDOTOLA) and the International Centre for Bantu Civilization (CICIBA) to actualize ACALAN’s Linguistic Atlas project.

Expected at the workshop are members of the Assembly of Academicians, Resource persons (curriculum experts) from selected Universities, Staff of ACALAN’s Executive Secretariat; Representatives of CERDOTOLA and CICIBA, Representative of the National Commission for the Promotion of Bilingualism and Multiculturalism, Representatives of Ministries of Culture and Education of Cameroon; Representative of the Economic Community of Central African States ECCAS and Members of the civil society.

ACALAN is a specialized arm of the AU with the responsibility of promoting the use of indigenous African languages in all domains in the continent and using African languages as a tool for African integration and development for peaceful and prosperous African continent.
