Following a successful workshop on Collaboration with CERDOTOLA and CICIBA and Review of Pan- African Master’s and PhD Program in African Languages and Applied Linguistics held recently in Yaounde, African Academy of Languages (ACALAN) is set to stage an Operational and Planning Workshop to establish the Arabic, Sango and Isizulu Language Commissions.
The workshop which is scheduled for December 21 to 23 in Kigali will be centred on establishing the identified language commissions, identifying priority areas of the Vehicular Cross-border Language Commissions and to produce action plans based on the priority areas identified.
Also on the agenda for the workshop is setting out modalities of the operation of the Arabic, Sango and Isizulu Vehicular Cross-border Language Commission and of the National Language Structures. Furtehermore, it will look to clarify the role of other stakeholders, including Regional Economic Communities (RECs), Regional Institutions of Languages and Culture (RILC), Universities, Civil Society Organizations, ACALAN’s National Structures.
