Rwanda Minister of Sports and Culture, Julienne Uwacu has lauded the director of African Union and the Executive Secretary of the African Academy of Languages (ACALAN), Dr. Lang Fafa Dampha for their efforts in promoting African languages.

She made the call at the just concluded ACALAN operational and planning workshop for the establishment Arabic, Sango and Isizulu Vehicular Cross-border Languages in Kigali.

The Minister stressed that the importance of language and indeed culture for the development of a group of people cannot be overemphasized, hence the attention given to it by ACALAN and by extension the AU is highly commendable.

She called on well-meaning Africans home and in the diaspora, cooperate bodies and Governments of member states to continue to offer support to help achieve ACALAN’s lofty agenda.
